Only Child

The dreaded, yet inevitable, has happened. We moved my sister to North Carolina last weekend, and I am heartbroken.

It all started last Autumn, when my sister applied for the one NICU fellowship at OU in OKC. She didn't get it, but immediately began getting calls from other programs all over the country asking her to come interview for them. She narrowed it down to about 4 schools and started flying all over the country to check them out.

She was offered a position in North Carolina, St. Louis, and a job on the floor at OU. It was a very difficult decision, one that included lots of tears, but she chose to go to North Carolina.

Even though we knew the day was coming, it didn't make it any easier. We drove 14 of the 18 hours last Friday. We being my mom, dad, sister, me, aunt Kemo, and Katie. We finished out the last 4 hours on Saturday and got the UHaul unloaded that evening. Sunday we went to the Biltmore Mansion, and let me tell you, it was amazing! We spent all afternoon and evening there, and topped it off with a fireworks show on the grounds of the estate. Monday we worked on unpacking the kitchen, and since I had to go back to work Tuesday, I left about 3 to fly home all by myself. My sis and dad drove me to the airport, and I sat in the backseat trying not to cry the whole time. When they dropped me off, I couldn't hold it in any longer, and I let loose.

My sister is my best friend. I keep telling myself it's only gonna be 3 years, but so far it's only been a week and I miss her like crazy :(

I just lived three hours away and it was hard I couldn't imagine living across the country! Tell her to start a blog so we can keep up with her!
